This woven Irish handcraft is a tactile meditation on the “thin” eleven days between the celebration of 2 of Ireland’s most significant Goddesses, from the spark of Brigid and the grounding of Gobnait. It captures the precise moment when the Irish landscape exhales—a transition from the silent, iron-grip of winter to the first rhythmic hum of the coming Spring. Crafted as the light lengthens over the hills around Ballyvourney, this piece serves as a map for the |Soul’s own “place of resurrection,” tracing the journey from a hopeful vision to a rooted reality.

The woven handcraft piece explores the journey that so many of us take. Form dark wintery days of the unknown and uncertain, to the first appearance of hope and possibility as the Spring arrives. In these first days of Spring our roots dig deeper in the earth as our shoots up expand towards the light.

Woven with a bespoke blend of hand-dyed Ériu Irish wool and the structural honesty of Aran wool, the piece explores how we can begin to belong in our bones.

Deep, earth-toned wefts represent the fertile silence of the dark soil, through which delicate, luminous shoots of daffodil yellow emerge—the “shoots of possibility” that define the first days of Spring. These points of light mimic the scattered wildness of the landscape, held together by traversing stitches that honours Gobnait. The result is a piece that breathes with the softness of Brigid’s inspiration while remaining forged in the strength of Gobnait’s protection, marking the exact point where our winter dreams are finally hammered into form.

The Wool

Each strand of naturally dyed wool comes from Irish sheep, carrying the memory of the land itself — the depth of dark soil, ancient hedgerows, and native wilderness. These fibres hold the essence of the earth they rose from. From this ground, you are invited to plant the seeds of your own intentions and begin again.

All wool for the weft is native, sourced and hand-dyed in Ireland.

This is a one-of-a-kind, intuitively woven Irish handcraft. It was created without a pattern or predetermined design, allowing the work to unfold organically. It will never be replicated.

As a final blessing, the finished textile was gently dowsed in locally made plant essences. For this piece, Foxglove and Cactus were intuitively chosen. The foxglove takes us to the fairy realm and the invisible realm, yet keeps us steady and restores our creative imagination and the cactus is about aligning to your North Star (how perfect for this piece right!).
