Journey to Health: A Story of a Nutritional Therapist, Artist, Cook and Connector

Lucy Hyland Design Your Wellbeing

I’m Lucy Hyland and I have my own story. We all have a story that has brought us to where we are today. I’m guessing you have your own story too.

You might have reached a point in your story when you know its time to stop. You know you need to change and you know you need a little support. I found myself there over 10 years ago. And I haven’t looked back since.

In my story, I had just come out of my second major cancer operation and I was 30 years old. I knew something had to change and so I started a journey that continues today. Firstly, I explored the world of nutrition to become a qualified nutritional therapist and learnt to cook with my chef’s qualification. Then I discovered the joy of movement and creativity.  I continue to push the bounds of my own creativity, doing an art degree and art therapy diploma and I love exploring how best to express my way in this world.

Life has ebbed and flowed. For me, there are times when life has been hard. My story has come from a history of childhood illness and caring for siblings and parents with health issues. There were times when my health, and the health of those around me, was held together by a delicate thread of care. And yet, for me also, there are times when life has been so much fun. My childhood story sent me out into the world to explore and live life to the max, filled with travel, exotic foods and good times.

All these experiences and learning curves have allowed me to develop my own perspective on self care and take me on my own  journey to health. I couldn’t help but question, delve and dive deeper into what self care and wellbeing really mean to us. These questions have helped me to develop a way of working that allows me to express my deep love and zest for life.

If you, like me, are searching then don’t give up. My work is dives deep: asking questions, gently challenging and steadily supporting you to find your own journey to self care and an ongoing sense of wellbeing.
